It’s Easier to be Creative with a Lively View

On Mondays and Thursdays I teach at the Portland Community College’s relatively new Willow Creek Center, next to the Max Willow Creek Transit stop. We often break to look at all the different kinds of people coming and going on the trains.

The students are turning into a real Artists’ Group and I’m hopeful that many of them will return. Here’s some awesome recent work by members of my Thursday acrylics class.

See more of Janice's work earlier on this blog.

Sue was painting this and we were all fearful she would lose the loose freedom and joy. Our pressure intimidated her into starting another one......which ended up being even better than the first and just as free. So now we know to trust Sue and keep our big pie-holes shut. (Well we still have a little trouble with that!)

This elegant, whimsical, free flowing painting was done by no other than my best friend Sue. It is so very typical of what I REMEMBER HER PAINTINGS TO BE LIKE. SHE HAS A SPECIAL TALENT….a TRUE GIFT! Have her continue to follow her dream.

You are so fortunate to have her in your class! My husband and myself were so impressed with all of your other students! You have a wonderful class!

    • You’re right, Deborah! I have several wonderful classes but the Thursday group was extra tight this term. It’s an honor to see these artists discover and redisover their creativity. Sue is special. She fairly dances as she paints and it shows up in the work.

Sue has been a friend of mine for over 35 years and is one of the most gifted people I know. Sue is a very special soul who has inspired me and many others over the years with not only her art work but her gentle spirited nature and her insightful wisdom and the way she sees the world and beyond. The world will be a better place now that Sue is doing what she loves, creating joy in her art. I am so proud of her that she is creating again and can not wait to see what the next picture will unfold. Sue is truly a rare spirit
    and needs to soar…..

You have some very talented artists in your Thursday class! It’s hard to believe those are acrylics…the art just jumps off the page and has so much movement. Thanks for sharing these beautiful pieces with us. I look forward to seeing more artwork from your classes. It’s encouraging and inspiring.
